ML Sondhi Memorial Lectures

The ML Sondhi Trust helps organise seminars and events throughout the year but the highlight of the year remains the ML Sondhi Memorial Lecture.

ML Sondhi memorial lectures serve as an important occasion for invited dignitaries to speak on issues of public significance. The first ML Sondhi Memorial Lecture was delivered by His Excellency the President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on 3rd January 2005 at the India International Centre, New Delhi. Mr. Kalam spoke on the issue of development and the progress of the nation.

The second ML Sondhi Memorial Lecture was delivered by His Holiness The Dalai Lama on 24th December 2006 at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The topic of the Dalai Lama’s speech was “Ethics in Public Life”. The Dalai also spoke on issues of Tibet and Tibetans’ demand for autonomy. On this occasion, HH The Dalai Lama also inaugurated a collection of Prof. Sondhi’s writings on Tibet entitled, ML Sondhi on Tibet As The Fulcrum of An Asian Peace Order (New Delhi, India-Tibet Co-ordination Office: 2006).
